Leona Williams came from humble beginnings growing up in rural Missouri, rising to become one of Country's most admired and influential female singer/songwriters.

Leona began her career at age 15 with her own radio show. At age 21 she was on the road touring with Loretta Lynn. A recording contract with Hickory Records soon followed which produced her first hits "Once More," "Country Girl With Hot Pants On" and her signature hit "Yes Ma'am." She became a regular on the Grand Ole Opry and became known for her writing ability, penning songs for George Jones, Gene Watson, Connie Smith and many others.

For 9 years Leona was a part of the Merle Haggard Show, writing Merle's #1 hits "You Take Me For Granted" and "Someday When Things Are Good." Leona and Merle released a duet album on Mercury Records, their voices together produced the top 10 hit "The Bull and The Beaver." Leona also had a hand in writing and singing on a string of Haggard hits including "Big City," "The Way I Am," "The Roots Of My Raising" and many others. Leona and Merle would eventually be married for 6 years. The marriage did not last but they remain friends and are each other's greatest fans.

Leona over the years has teamed up on songs with Vince Gil, Jimmy Martin, Ferlin Husky, Johnny Bush, Gene Watson, Mac Wiseman, Rhonda Vincent, The Whites, and her dear friend George Jones…just to name a few.

Leona recorded albums for Hickory, MCA, Elektra and Mercury labels. With her love of Traditional Country Music she lent her talent to a couple start up labels, Heart Of Texas and AhHa Records. Little did she know the efforts of her and few other artists would help start the re-emergence of Texas style music. Today Leona has formed her own record label, Loveshine Records, with several new releases including a "Duets" album and a Bluegrass album titled "Grass Roots." Leona's versatility and love for Traditional Country and Bluegrass Music make her one of Country Music's most celebrated and cherished artists.

Leona spends her spare time with her 3 children, Cathy, Ron, Brady and their families…they all love "Mamaw's" cooking! Spending time staying in touch with her fans/friends all over the world is another of her favorite pastimes. Leona has long been known for her kindness and generosity, her many fans will attest how great her love is for them. Leona Williams is truly a treasure to fans around the world that love Traditional Country and Bluegrass music.
